When does the Apprentice Scheme start?

The scheme begins in September of each year.

Do I need to have a PR degree?

A degree in public relations is not essential. Our employees have a broad range of backgrounds.

How many candidates do you take on each year?

The number of candidates we take each year is flexible. In general we take between 4 and 8 candidates onto the scheme.

Will you consider mature applicants?

Yes. We recruit people from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, and often find that candidates who have had a previous career bring something extra to the agency.

When will I hear if my application has been successful?

For the September 2012 intake, we will endeavour to respond to all candidates by mid-April 2012.

What is the assessment process?

If your application is successful, you will be invited to an assessment day at the Edelman office in London and will include numerous selection activities including a formal interview. This process may be subject to change.

What is the starting salary?

The scheme starting salary is reviewed each year to ensure that we remain competitive. In addition to your basic salary you will receive an excellent contractual benefits package, including travel insurance. We also provide a number of benefits which are non-contractual such as free breakfasts each morning, subsidised massages, free drinks in the company bar every Thursday and an extra day of holiday for your birthday.

How many people are employed by the organisation?

Edelman worldwide employs over 4,000 people in 60 offices. Edelman London has recently experienced a period of growth and now employs over 330 people.

Where is the Edelman office located?

Edelman relocated to bigger, brighter and better offices in 2008 which are near to London Victoria and have a company bar, cafe and library. To see pictures of our home, please visit us on Flickr.

What international opportunities are there?

As a global agency we have a number of client accounts which operate in a number of international markets. This offers the possibility to work and interact with colleagues and clients from around the world. Edelman also offers an international secondment programme, providing you with the opportunity to work abroad. This is available to all staff who meet a pre-defined criteria, such as length of service and business need.

Is Edelman involved in CAMFED and Kids Company?

Edelman supports a number of charities by donating staff time and skill. All staff are encouraged to work with a chosen charity and we facilitate this through charity networking events. We are also a member of the Media Trust. Further information is available at www.mediatrust.org.

Does Edelman organise any social events?

Absolutely – we have a social committee who organise social events such as company football and netball and we also have staff drinks every Thursday in the company bar.

Will I be able to work in different departments?

For approximately 9 months you will rotate through the main departments at Edelman. The 2011 candidates have been working with: JCPR, Healthcare, Corporate and Financial, Public Affairs, Technology and Digital.

What is the deadline for applications?

The 2012 Edelman Apprentice Scheme will be opening for applications on 1st December 2011. Applications will close on 31st January 2012. Please keep an eye on our website for further details.
