Induction

Ok not really sure where to start with this whole blogging thing. Have had Myspace for a while but never got round to writing a blog so here goes.
Dear diary…dear blog…dear Edelman…(not sure who is going to be reading this).

So…I came to the Edelman Grad scheme fairly late in the day.
Having graduated from my BA a couple of years ago, I embarked on a career in the public sector recruiting EU students for London Metropolitan University. I first became interested in PR during a module in my first degree; however, my interest was properly ignited when I embarked on a Masters in Communications Management. The course entailed a great deal of PR theory and practice, as well as a healthy dose of media monitoring (in fact my lecturer told us one day I would thank him for teaching MM; not sure I will ever thank him but it is good to have at least a basic understanding of it!)

Anyway, having studied it, I finally decided that PR was for me and set about finding a job. After much research and some speculative letters, I stumbled across Edelman and my guardian angel Miss Hall.
Luckily, after some confusion filling in the application form (Note to self – never try and fill in an application form, for a job you really want, whilst in an internet café on a beach in Spain, which does not even have MS Word!!!), I made it through to the interview stage…and all the way to joining Edelman grads 2006.

My first impression of Edelman was that it was really friendly. However, that did nothing to assuage my nerves before our new-joiners induction lunch at Strada but everyone seemed friendly enough.

Our first day was a heady mixture of HR info and all you ever need to know about Edelman and then it was straight into our rotations!
