Friday 27th October was the national ‘Wear It Pink’ day to raise awareness for Breast Cancer in the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We were no doubt taking part in this fund raising event at Edelman – if only to see the uniform pink across the office!

Edelman Freetime organised the day and made sure everyone came into work wearing something pink and also sent the donation box round the office to collect £2 per person. All in all, we raised £118 on the day.
By the way, Edelman Freetime is run by a group of internal staff who ensure the work-life balance amongst staff and with that aim in mind, they also organises other social events such as pub quiz, Innocent smoothie tasting sessions, and next month’s wine tasting (can’t wait!)
Wear It Pink is also part of the Edelman global initiative to “Living in Colour”. Living in Colour is part of the Edelman culture and it means leading a culturally rich and rewarding life outside of work. It means spending time with family and giving back to the community. And it also means taking the time to learn about the world around you and your place in it.
Taking part in charity work is part of Living in Colour and it is also part of our corporate social responsibility at Edelman. This can be either by donation or by spending a day working for the charities. The marketing team organised a charity speed dating event last month and we had the chance to find out what they do and how we could help as part of our pro bono work.
And for the grads? We will all have a pro bono day working at a charity’s office supporting their PR campaigns and getting experience of in-house PR. But unlike my preparation for my Wear It Pink day, I won’t be taking my Marie pink cat ears with me this time round… as much as I was very proud of my AristoCats souvenir from Disneyland, I did actually feel a little inappropriate having these fluffy ears, despite a pink dress down Friday.
